TWIGGY, otherwise known as Lesley Lawson, and Colin McDowell will tonight be inaugurated into the WGSN Hall of Fame as part of its annual Global Fashion Awards.
A renowned model and face of the Sixties, whose career has gone onto span the world of television too, Twiggy will receive the Icon award.
“She still has as much relevance within the fashion industry having been made the face of Marks & Spencer for nearly a decade and being one of the leading voices on women’s for women in their 60s and 70s,” said founder and director of the awards Lauretta Roberts of the decision.
Meanwhile McDowell – who boasts some 20 fashion books to his name and is extensively known as a fashion commentator for both The Sunday Times and beyond – will receive the Outstanding Achievement award.
“In a world where informed fashion critique can be lost among the millions of social media posts, Colin’s skill and insight should be cherished and celebrated more than ever,” added Roberts of the choice.
Previous names to join the Hall of Fame have included Rankin and Christopher Bailey. The awards will be presented tonight at the Park Lane Hotel in London.
