Chanel Luxury In Salzburg

CHANEL’s biannual Metiers d’Art shows tend to be extravagant affairs, so once again Sam McKnight found he had rich and varied references and plenty of freedom for creativity at his disposal when creating the hairstyles for yesterday’s show in Salzburg.

“Hair was luxurious, shiny, healthy and inspired by Elisabeth (Sisi) the Nineteenth Century Empress of Austria with a little early-Seventies Bardot and a lot of 21st Century ease,” said McKnight.

He blow-dried the top and front of models’ hair back from the face with a dab of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Full Volume Extra Mousse, giving it natural movement using a medium-sized Babyliss iron and spritzing with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. He then pulled the front section of the hair back from the face and fastened it with a Chanel accessory – some models wore jewelled barrettes whilst others had black satin bows, or occasionally both. And in a stroke of hair genius, some models wore customised headphones with the earpieces covered in real hair braids in blonde, black or pink.
